Wow…a lovely evening was had by all at Danny Wells talk about ‘The English’ and ‘Gardening” on May 13th.
We had a proper trip through history by a proper History teacher, starting at the very beginning, literally in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. I heard a quote I have never heard before by H. E. Bates [ A garden that is finished is dead ] and that is exactly what I will be if mine is ever finished.
Brilliant night, thank you Danny, my favourite slide of the night was the one that took me back through my own history to the day my dad wrote on a stone ” The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, one is nearer Gods heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth”
Thank You all for coming and thank you to everyone who bought a plant at our plant sale, all monies raised help to fund the kitty for future speakers.
